COUNTY COMPARISON
barcelohotel SopotLocal levy funds are a critical support of community mental health services in most Ohio counties. The importance of levy support has grown progressively vital as Federal and State funds have declined. Currently the state-wide average for local levy funding compared to the amount of total mental health funding is 30%. Butler County’s local levy funding represents about 13% of the Board's total funding.

Butler County’s current level of levy support pales by comparison with counties that make up the greater Cincinnati area. This puts Butler County in a disadvantaged position in terms of quality of life indicators that significantly affect school performance, economic development and public safety. Butler County’s current 0.5 mill levy is one of the smallest in effect in all contiguous counties.
