TEACHING THEOLOGY THROUGH FILM
Understanding God with Intellect and Heart

How can we address the theological hunger of our congregations for a deeper knowledge of God that involves the intellect as well as the heart? One innovative way is through the critical use of films. This seminar will model the use of films as catalyst for theological reflection, and encourage pastors to experiment with this mode of teaching in their own congregations. Clips will be used, along with excerpts from theological texts. Students should view The Truman Show, Places in the Heart, and The Mission prior to the class.

Marjorie Suchocki Stockholm accommodation is Ingraham Professor of Theology at Claremont School of Theology. She is author of many books and articles dealing with theology from the perspective of process and feminist thought. She is currently writing on the theology of religious pluralism.
