What is Abortion?

Induced abortion is an unnatural, hostile penetration of a closed and safeguarded biological system (the child in the womb). As a result the mother is always exposed to risks and to short- and long-term complications, both physical and psychological.

Before you make the decision to have an abortion, it is important to examine the facts, and understand the various procedures, risks and dangers involved with having and abortion.

Please continue below to learn more of how an abortion is preformed and the risks involved.

Abortion Techniques

There are 7 most commone types of abortions used today:

Suction Asipriation

Baby's Age: 1-3 Months

Description:

This is a technique used for 95 % of all abortions.

A powerful suction tube is inserted into the womb through the dialated cervix. This dismembers the body of the developing baby and tears the placenta from the uterus sucking them into a container.

The practitinor will then take the bloodied parts and "re-esemble" them to ensure that nothing is left behind.

Dilation and Curettage (D&C)

Baby's Age: 1-3 Months

Description:

The cervix is dilated or stretched to permit insertion of a loop-shaped steel knife in order to cut the body of the baby into pieces and scrape the placenta from the wall of the uterus.

Chemical (RU 486)

Baby's Age: 1-2 Months

Description:

A multi-visit procedure in which a woman is given powerful synthetic hormones via a pill (RU 486) or an injection (Methotrexate) which causes the developing child the suffocate or starve to death. A few days later, she receives another drug, a prostaglandin, which stimulates contractions to expel the tiny corpse. The process may take weeks, and a woman must return for another visit to determine whether the drugs have been "successful" (at least 1 in 25 do not completely abort).

Dilation and Evacuation

Baby's Age: 4-6 Months

Description:

Similar to a D&C. Forceps are used to grasp part of the developing baby who already has calcified bones. The parts must be twisted and torn away. Body pieces are re-esembled to verify completion.

Partial Birth Abortion

Baby's Age: 4-9 Months

Description:

hotel rooms NiceThis method is usually used in the fifth and sixth months of pregnancy, but sometimes later, sometimes even as late as the ninth month. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist reaches into the womb with forceps and pulls the living baby feet first out through the birth canal - all except the baby's head, which is deliberately kept just within the birth canal. The abortionist then punctures the base of the baby's skull with a long scissors or other surgical instrument, inserts a suction tube into the wound, and sucks out the baby's brain. The abortionist then delivers the head of the dead baby.

Installation Methods

Baby's Age: 4-7 Months

Description:

Drugs or chemicals are injected through the abdomen or cervix into the amniotic sac to cause the death of the child and his or her explusion from the uterus. These chemicals include hypertonic saline (salt), urea, prostaglandins, and oxytocin. Sometimes, potassium chloride or digoxin is injected into the baby's heart, causing heart failure. Prostagladins and oxytocin induce contractions to deliver the dead baby.

Hysterotomy (Cesarean)

Baby's Age: 6-8 Months

Description:

Usually used in an emergency if a chemical or installation method fails. An incision is made through the abdomen into the mother's womb. The baby is removed. Babies are sometimes born alive with this procedure, like in any ceaseran delivery, raising questions as to how and by whom these infants are killed.
